Jeff Mackie started Jeff Mackie Electric Ltd in 1976 in the Bradford, Holland Marsh area after serving his apprenticeship with Ainsworth Electric Limited of Toronto in conjunction with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
The business grew over the next few decades and in 1998 his son Jay started his apprenticeship with his father's company.
In 2006 the Ontario Government passed into law requiring Electrical Contractors to be licensed and one of the conditions required to obtain a licence was that a Master Electrician must be employed by every Contractor.
At the time Jay and Jeff both held C. of Q. Maintenance and Construction licence's. As Jeff was approaching retirement age Jay decided to study and write his Master Electrician exam, obtaining his new licence enabling the Company to continue under it's new ECRA/ESA licence.
Fast forward to 2018. Jay is now a partner/owner running the daily duties of the Company.
